Quick Licensing Question

Hello,
If I have a SQL Server set for Per Processor Licensing can I install
Personal Edition on a number of Laptops/ PC's without purchasing a license
for them? We have laptop users that travel and use a local copy of a
database. I want to move to Per Processor licensing for our main server but
an unsure if these users will fall under the per processor licensing model or
will still require a license to use Personal edition. From what I understand
they fall under per processor but I want to make sure.
Thanks for your time. The short answer is no, sorry.
Have a look at

indicates to me that PE is applicable in a Per Processor environment:

thinking the using Per Processor would cover Personal editions. But I've no
idea what the licensing is now. Any one know for sure if Per Processing will
cover Personal Edition?
Thanks again

Well you learn something new every day, DM, I got the answer totally wrong
(again), Tibor, thank you for pointing it out.

Q. What type of license do I need to install and run SQL Server Personal
Edition?
A. SQL Server Personal Edition is not a separate product, but instead a
component of SQL Server that is designed to bring SQL Server functionality to
desktop applications. It can be installed and used on any Microsoft
Windowsâ'based device within an organization provided it is properly licensed
with a CAL or connects to servers that are properly licensed according to the
Per Processor licensing model.
If SQL Server Personal Edition interfaces with an instance of SQL Server,
and then distributes that data to other devices, SQL Server Personal Edition
is acting as a mutliplexer and SQL Server device CALs are required for all
devices accessing it. If you have licensed SQL Server according to the Per
Processor licensing model, you can have an unlimited number of connections to
that server, whether it is through SQL Server Personal Edition or through
direct connections.

For those interested I have an answer from Microsoft regarding licenses for
Personal Edition. See below...
I understand your confusion over the statement quoted, but you are correct
in your assumption on the licensing requirements of SQL Personal Edition.
SQL PE is a component of the main SQL server itself, and the licensing is
dependent how you licence the server. If you decide to licence SQL with
CALs, for each CAL purchased you are entitled to install one copy of SQL PE.
If you go the processor route, as this allows for an unlimited number of
connections, you can install SQL PE on an unlimited number of PCs as well.
easy when you know how...
